About the Author
Steve Zumdahl is the author of market-leading textbooks in introductory chemistry, general chemistry, honors-level chemistry, and high school chemistry. Recently retired from his long-time position as Director of Undergraduate Programs at the University of Illinois, he has received numerous awards for his contributions to chemical education. These include the National Catalyst Award in recognition of his contribution to chemical education, the University of Illinois Teaching Award, the UIUC Liberal Arts and Sciences Advising Award, and the School of Chemical Sciences Teaching Award (five times). He earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Wheaton College (IL), and his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
Susan A. Zumdahl earned a B.S. and M.A. in Chemistry at California State University--Fullerton. She has taught science and mathematics at all levels, including middle school, high school, community college, and university. She is past director of the Merit Program for Emerging Scholars in Chemistry at the University of Illinois. In addition, she spearheaded the development of a sophisticated web-based electronic homework system for chemistry and is co-author on several chemistry textbooks.

A Masterpiece in Inorganic Chemistry

Anybody who does not own a copy of Zumdahl's "Chemistry" is missing out. This textbook on Inorganic Chemistry is a masterpiece, with excellent explanations on many concepts and supported by colourful illustrations. It is a must for anyone who is serious about Chemistry (from Junior to University levels). I have to give this book 10 out of 5 and I thoroughly recommend it. Cheers from Australia - Henry

Great book for general chemistry

Good chemistry book! We had this textbook for our AP Chemistry class (before the test being recently changed), and my teacher has been using this book for several year as well. It covers a variety of topics, and anytime I did not understand something, I had to refer to the textbook, which did a good job using illustrations and descriptions and examples. It covered all the topics I needed to know and in good detail and I did fantastically well in my class and on the AP Exam using this book. Zumdahl and Zumdahl do a great job

This book is required for my AP chemistry class, and it was helpful 6/10. We did not go through all of the chapters but the ones we did go through were enough to cover the teacher's lesson. It goes through the material thoroughly, but some parts are conveyed in a way that may be difficult for one to understand, since I had to read it over twice to get it, and other times the information is straightforward. I was able to get a three on the exam and I wouldn't use this alone for it unless you are a type of person who easily absorbs information from a book.
