This book really isn't up to Biddy Tarot standards, but not because of the content, which is excellent. I thought that I had just gotten a bad copy, but see that other buyers have books like mine -- fuzzy black-and-white scans of the Tarot cards, way-too-light printing, and black ink spilled on the top of every page (turns out that it was meant to be a design -- who knew?)
The author has announced that the book is going to be redone and old copies can be exchanged for new ones with a serif font, darker print and clearer images. Based on her making things right, on the quality of the book's content (which I have read as an ebook), and on her lovely and sincere apology, I'm changing my rating. Thanks, Brigit!

It really IS the Ultimate Guide

I absolutely love this book! It is my “go to” reference. The writing style is easy to understand, and pleasant to read. I like that while it offers the traditional meanings of the cards, it does not say that this card means “X” and that is the only thing that it can mean. The book offers suggestions of how to read each card, but it also tells you that you also need to listen to your gut or intuition as you read. I feel like I have a friend looking over my shoulder helping me decipher the cards.
The book has an in-depth discussion of each card, as well as offering suggestions as to what it means in different types of readings. A card might mean one thing if the reading was financial and another if the card shows up in a reading about spirituality. The book also presents several possible card combinations and a discussion of the meaning if the card is reversed. In addition to the individual card interpretations, the book also explains the overarching meaning of each suit, and it provides a quick chart of key words for each card. The book also included a chapter discussing multiple ways to read reversed cards, one that discusses the numerology inherent in tarot and a guide to deciphering card combinations.
I have both the print book and the e-book. The E-book is set up for ease of navigation when using Adobe, and I use it often. However, it can be a pain to power up my device every time that I need to look up a card. The print book may not be as “pretty” because it does not have color illustrations, but it is much more convenient to grab the book and thumb through the pages to find what I am looking for. I will continue to use both the print book and the E-book. I highly recommend it!

Let me begin this review by stating that I am a male. What males tend to do are buy the item and read the instructions when all else fails.
I bought The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Card Meanings through Biddy Tarot and while I was waiting for it to be delivered, I decided to read the reviews on the book.
Oh dear! The top reviews on the book were damning, to say the least, about the readability of the Font and Type-print and I thought, as Brittney sang, Oops! I’ve done it again!
So, when the book arrived on Thursday, I imagined all sorts of disappointment.
However, to cut a long story short, the book was both readable and I personally find no issues with either the font or the type-face used. Now bear in mind That I am Scottish, over 60 (certainly not my speed) and half deaf, I decided on an early night to get to grips of the content of the book.
Now the reviews I read, had issues with the printing quality of the book, yet none of those reviews had anything but high praise for the content of the book.
This book gives me an additional tool with which to work in developing my Tarot skills. One of the main things about It, from the beginning, is that it stresses that it is a Learning Resource, something to which I can refer in order to expand my interpretations and to perhaps clarify in some instances.
The information shared is the result of many years of learning and practice by Bridget. She has chosen to share her experience in the form of The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Card Meanings.
The content of this book is a wealth of knowledge – the keywords, the descriptions, the meanings, upright and reversed meanings etc. all there for advice and learning assistance. For me and I’m sure many others this book will take us closer to intuitive Tarot reading as a reference source.
I don’t imagine that I am the only person to have a readable copy of this book and I sympathise with anyone whose copy is less than perfect for them. I received an email from Biddy Tarot regarding these reported issues and I understand that these are in hand to rectify the problems. Luckily for me that does not apply,
One further point regarding the issue of the illustrations being black and white. I consider it a non-issue as I have several different Tarot Packs and I personally would only be referring to this or any other book I have, whilst using the pack.
I also find the flip-card downloads an extremely valuable resource, both Biddy’s own words and the blank copies, which I have been filling in with my own words, sometimes they match more often not but the underlying interpretations are near enough to show that I’m in the right area.
Tarot is a subjective entity and each reading, sometimes the same cards with different interpretations is what it is about – intuitively knowing these differences – this book, The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Card Meanings, is one very important resource that I will use along with access to the Biddy Tarot Website to aid me in becoming a more intuitive reader.

Excellent A must read for all computer users.

Anyone that owns/uses a computer should read Computer Forensics.

Marie Helen Maras introduces cybercriminals, laws and evidence without bogging down in either too much emphasis on hardware and software technical information, or so much legal analysis that a comprehensive background in law is required.

She explains the litany of terms and explains real life examples of those who perpetrated some these crimes.

She talks about logic bombs, keyloggers, sniffers and botnets (taking control over a computer) by botherders, without the knowledge of the computer user and so so much more.

This is an important book that should be read by all computer users.

People should be aware of these risks.

Written motherly conciousness

This was the first book I bought of H. Jackson Brown. The presentation and size of the book caught my attention and after reading the introduction I was totally into it. Is very easy to read and can be completely read in about an hour. Do not ignore this book for that, this book can uplift your spirit at any time any where. I read it every once in a while to receive the peace and tranquility the book imparts beside the motherly wisdom. I an not a "romantic" but this book apply to everybody's sensible side, no matter how hidden it is.

Lippard, Audre Lorde, Toni Morrison, Lowery Stokes Sims, Alice Walker, and Michelle Wallace. These documents include articles, manifestos, and letters from significant publications as well as interviews, some of which are reproduced in facsimile form. The Sourcebook also includes archival materials, rare ephemera, and an art-historical overview essay. Vunak Is The Best

Paul Vunak is the best when it comes to reality based self defense. Some people on here, write reviews and tell you this guy is a joke. They would be mistaken with that judgment. I bought this book looking to learn some effective self defense if they day would come that I needed to use it. This was money well spent, and I really wanted the book after learning that this is some of the same things that the Navy Seals, and other military branches, as well as the police use. I don't think this material is outdated in any way, as this stuff can be applied in today's world. There is also an awesome section on knife defense that you should check out.

short and sweet

This is a decent book, short and sweet. It does show some technique sequences but it is really about demonstrating his principles: rapid assault tactics (RAT), kino mutai, defanging the snake. He uses these to cover the areas of standing, ground fighting, and weapons. You are not going to learn to fight from a book, but Vunak presents some solid ideas.
Some may think Vunak is too basic, especially experienced martial artist, but I think he is right on the money keeping things simple and effective and avoiding complicated techniques. If you agree with that approach, I strongly encourage you to check out his Street Safe videos.

Upon further study - Not convinced

Upon much criticism from my fellow readers, I have purchased this book and read and studied it in depth. I appreciate what Mr. Vunak has done for the martial arts and what this book contributes to the subject. However, I feel this work has failed to convince the reader of the effectiveness of his techniques.
1. I disagree with the assertion that NHB techniques are ineffective in a street fight. NHB techniques are easily adapted to a street fight. NHB events have less rules than boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, sport jiu-jitsu, and judo...NHB competition, while not as lawless as a street fight, is the most realistic laboratory of martial prowess to date. How would Lennox Lewis do in a street fight? Ernesto Hoost? Kurt Angle? Jean-Jacques Machado? Gene Labelle? I think we would all agree that they would perform well...yet they fight with rules more constraining than NHB fighters...but we argue that NHB techniques don't work? Frank Shamrock wouldn't make it on the street? Tito Ortiz wouldn't? Rickson Gracie wouldn't?
2. I find the anectdotal evidence not credible. The author relates a bar fight (pg 15-16) with a fellow instructor and 3 Navy SEALs (who each weighed 300 pounds and all were olympic caliber wrestlers) against 20 bikers in order to disprove the effectiveness of NHB techniques. Are you serious? I have been in the spec ops community for over a decade and have habitually trained and worked with the east & west coast SEALs and have yet to meet a SEAL who is 300 pounds and a former olympic wrestler...but the author managed to find three in one place...are you kidding?
3. The examples presented are not realistic. Page 25 shows a guy throwing a jab and then keeping his arm sticking straight out while he is hit in the biceps, kicked in the knee, punched in the face, kicked in the stomach, and then shin kicked in the leg. The whole time, the person being pummeled never moves or even flinches....So you find this one way beating realistic...with no reaction whatsoever from yoru opponent...but not NHB events? And, by the way, all of these techniques are legal in NHB, but they don't win fights even there.
4. Again, pgs 26-27 are not realistic. The loser of the fight is shin kicked, punched, gouged, head butted and then elbowed...and the guy just stands there like a scarecrow and gets beaten...that's realistic? Your opponent won't react...or fall to the ground? or fight back?
5. Another issue I have is with pgs 28-36. Clearly, the techniques shown only work aganst another fighter using the same, stand up style. You can beat every one of these techniques with just one technique...the double leg takedown.
6. Most of the techniques shown are low percentage moves, hard to master, and not feasible by the average person. Try hitting someone in the bicep as he punches you in the head...try to kick someone in the small of his back as he hits you with a spinning back kick (pg 49). I believe most martial arts techniques are unrealistic and impossible to master. What I want to see for a self-defense technique is simplicity, reliability, and effectiveness.
7. "Kino mutai (the art of pinching and biting)allows us to circumvent the jiu-jitsu game"-pg 54. I disbelieve the claim that biting is the solution to fighting a grappler. Go fight Ryan Gracie, Dan Henderson, and Mark Coleman...just bite them and you will beat them. Are you kidding? The grappler/NHB fighter can make minor adjustments to defeat your biting easily. Pg 56 shows your opponent being bitten on his Lat...are you telling me that that biting can't be easily defeated? The top guy places his forearm on the bottom fighters throat...no more biting...only choking. Pg 58 shows an opponent being bitten on the ear...but he can bite your ear just as easily. Superior body positioning will defeat eye gouging, biting and groin strikes. Just as superior body positioning will allow you to bite, gouge, and groin strike with impunity. BJJ and wrestlers are the masters of body positioning...and dominate NHB events...but you think they can't fight on the street.
8. The criticism is that grapplers can not fight multiple attackers, but stand up fighters can. However, the stand up fighter can't handle one grappler. I would argue you can modify grappling to be as effective as the JKD fighter, using the clinch and tie up to set up your opponent for strikes. Where in this book from pg 1-128 is there realistic (or any, for that matter)examples of fighting multiple attackers? I believe I missed it.
9. Good points. I like the knife and stick fighting techniques...I buy into the defang the serpent philosophy as the underlying concepts are sound and ralistic. I buy the blast attack theory...with your opponent going backwards, he is at a disadvantage and you at a huge advantage. That's why the takedown and clinch in NHB is so effective...your opponent can not react fast or effectively enough to stop you. The philosophies and theories presented throughout this book give much food for thought...an excellent intellectual exercise.
10. Summary. Please consider: Fighting has evolved and the greatest martial laboratory in history is happening in front of our eyes...its called MMA competition. To ignore these lessons are folly. The stand up arts like JKD and Kung-Fu work against themselves only...not the takedown artist. The grappler/NHB fighter can easily adapt his techniques to defeat biting, gouging and groin strikes through superior body positioning...the stand up fighter can't and won't. NHB is not real life, but it is the most realistic training and competition to date. Adapt and evolve or stick your head in the sand like the dinosaur.

Enjoyed!

I'm working off my buttons.

But I'm also giving them away.

The more I fall for Crow, the more I want him to do the things that I want. Dinners, dates, and evenings at the beach.

Everything comes at a price, and quickly the hoard of buttons I worked hard to earn are depleted.

Will this go back and forth forever? Or will someone run out of their buttons first?

I wanted to review this series with the last one, but I just had to write something. I love Crowe and Pearl without a doubt my top 5 fave characters of all time!

The chaotic and graphic scenes are far more worse than that of Fifty Shades, having said that I'm waiting on a movie! I love the sex trafficking theme though because I don't think that people give that enough attention as it should!

I can't wait for the next book to come out! I've preordered mine because I'm ready for the next book!

I would recommend this book to anyone that love chaos and falling in love!

Ohhhhhhh love it!!!!!!!! Can't wait for Buttons and Pain........impatiently waiting. :)

OHHHHH I loved it! The story is just getting better and better......So In this second book Pearl and Crow grow closer. He is still in denial and she is falling hard. Cane really screws up and Crow has a hard time forgiving him. As the situation with Bones grows more serious, Cane and Crow come up with a plan to take him out. As Pearl is rejected she withdraws and doesn't think she will come back from this. Can she find peace? Can she find a way out? You really need to read this book. The characters have such depth. The story and characters have a deep darkness to them. I could not put the book down. The story keeps you captivated page by page. It turns out nothing like what you think will happen and it keeps you guessing and wanting more. Can't wait for Buttons and Pain........impatiently waiting. :)

I love this story. Pearl is such a strong woman. I love reading about women who are strong and capable of taking care of themselves. Sure, we all want a man in our life, someone to love and love us back. We also love being taken care of, bit we are not all whiney basket cases who fall apart and break so easily as portrayed in a lot of books. Pearl is fiesty, independent and a little bit submissive and dominant. I love that, because it is true of most women, who says we have to choose. I hate that most books imply that women are all submissive. What I hate even more is that men seem to think they can make any woman submissive. I love the growing, changing relationship between Pearl and Crow . I love the ending, it was spectacular and epic. I can't wait for the third and final book. But in my mind, I have many questions. How will she be able to support herself without her drivers license, money or credit cards or passport. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Misunderstood Entrepreneur?

While there is no denying Lou Pearlman's business acumen and the hard work that allowed him to succeed as related in this book, this 250 pages is also annoyingly self-serving. He spends a fair amount of time justifing the lawsuits and some of his business practices, and explaining the broken professional/personal relationships with the Backstreet Boys and 'NSync. It all seems to come down to which side of the courtroom you are sitting on. Was he taking advantage of young naive performers or just trying to recoup his investments? The fact that he refers to these singing groups as "brand names" and compares them to Coke and Pepsi does not help his case. Still, can he be blamed for wanting to be very rich?
If you follow these Ten Rules, will you become a billionaire like Lou Pearlman? Not very likely, but with that said, this book is full of interesting insights and stories, and is a fast and entertaining read.

A very intresting read!!

I really like this book. Have always wanted to work in the music business since growing up around a brother who was in a band the first 16 years of my life.

The best advice I got so many years ago was "don't ask someone who is broke how to make money. Ask someone who does."

Lou's book got me thinking about starting my own record label and maybe find the next Nsync!!!!

I Want it That Way

As a Los Angeles songwriter/producer I came upon Lou's book and purchased it right away. I had heard all about Lou's work putting together the Backstreet Boys & N'Sync, both great acts!
The book does a very good job of covering his humble beginnings and his clever business sense. However, it gives you only a sense of the enormous risk he took in the Pop music world. This is the area where the book disappointed me. OK, he spent 2 Million developing BB, but he could afford it? No problem? Really? I'm certain he had some doubts and discomfort, which he doesn't get in to in any detail. Plus, he must be a brilliant math guy, but you wouldn't know it by the book. Details, I wanted more details.
Also, regarding the TV show "Makin the Band". He doesn't mention the situation where his own TransCon managers offered the band, OTown, a deal that didn't include him. He only says he had some problems with one of the band members and they are now "friends." I think he fluffs over some important problems that we all could learn from. Who better to learn from than him, but he didn't discuss it much... Still, I'm glad he wrote it. It's better than nothing.
