In the first part, he explores the roles of public policy and the sociocultural environment in setting the stage for Korea's technological evolution. In part two, he draws on extensive case studies from large companies in a variety of manufacturing industries, to illustrate patterns of technological development in the private sector. In the final part, Kim considers the implications of Korea's experience as a potential role model for other catching-up countries. This work is part of the "Management of Innovation and Change Series".

Interesting perspective

This book is not so easy to read but it does provide a valuable look at what is going on in Korea and much of Asia. The West is mostly blind to the major changes that are taking place in this part of the world. At some point we are going to have to wake up and become more competitive. This book is a good contribution toward an understanding of these issues. It helps frame the debate and changes we need to make in the West.
